Getting to Know Allen Walters.

We Support building a Tunnel to Sunday River Ski Resort Deep Below the Mahoosuc Ridge. What now takes 45 minutes to an hour will take less than 10-12 to the OZ and Grand Resort Hotel. The drive time to Rumford and other points East will also be greatly reduced. This "Jobs Bill" will connect tens of thousands of Holiday tourists at the Sunday River Resort and "create" thousands of new neighbours/partners in the economic engine. 45 Minutes is a lot of gas and time to waste.

We support the recently announced conservation effort in the Unicorporated Towneship of Success and see is as a crucial piece of "Green Infrastructure". Our Timber Resouces, Water resource, Recreation Recsources, Hunting Grounds, ATV corridors (and potential new travel corridors) are all crucial elements of a Diverse & Unique Great City. "Green Infrasture investments like this are crucial developements in community that honestly is working to diversify. Diversity does not mean compromising your historic industries, by depleting the resource that feeds them, in trade for new economics, Diversity means strengthening the job base you have while also encouraging new industries.

We Believe a large Lake, four Jerichos, could be built within Success Towneship, with the leavings of the Tunnel. We believe the Lake should be a hydro and potable water resource and created and used ass a "nonmotorized" recreation resource. We believe a great, natural appearing beach such as South Pond could be created on this lake and be part of the National Forest and National park service inventory. We are leaning towards the National Park Service because, the one thing New Hampshire does not have, is a grande National Park. The National Parl Service is an appropriate entity to oversee the tunnel construction, lake construction project etc. They and The National forest service are the best equiped at securing funding and navigating the permitting process the would be required for such a developement. Pisture the Corridor From Berlin to Rumford. On a ten to twelve minute drive to Sunday River you would pass by the Lake, a Spur would take you North to Berlin Airport and Errol, you would pass through the Berlin City Forest Via a New National Park and Corridor.....

We support the Conversion of the former Biomass because I see no other solution that would be fair to the Estranged Proprietor or His Investors. I also see, if successfull, the massive & positive contribution this machine will have in conserving and retaining our woodlands to remain actively harvested and accessable. However. We also agree with the opposition in that it is an unaceptable risk for Berlin to not spend and "do" whatever it takes to improve the curb "appeal" and form "symibiotic relations" with the machine and company. We have only one other choice and that is too leave the machine looking as it does and risk that in doing that the mere presence of the machine may deter even that one crucial new investor or many new investors. And that is unnaceptable. No one could argue, if successfull, the positve effect the machine would have in conserving, for the long term, the Regional Forest Industry and Culture.

I believe the community should be building new green spaces within the community and improve the appearane of City Buildings. When you look at the city in the simplest of terms we are just a subdivision competing with thousands of other Subdivisions. What can make Berlin Unique and Appeal to new Commercial and residential investors (in no other ways) is enhancing, expanding and connecting, Berlins' already excellent parks (Green Infrastructure). The more natural and low maintenance the parks are designed the lower the maintenance cost and construction cost. we have a resource of thousands of Prioson Labourers at our disposal. The could pick down buildings by hand and build parks just like we could tell them too.

We believe the Mahhosuc Tunnel Authority should work cooperatively with the Conservation Fund, Other Nonprofits and the National Forest and Park Service in the creation of this A New National Parkway. The disposition of the bulk of the Forest, we belive should be the Berlin City Forest and managed as a "City Forest & water resource. This is not only a jobs Bill but a regional tool of pride and economic creation and connection. And the creation and conservation of at least the corridor should should be part of this resource conservation effort & green infrastructure investment.

We believe Berlin should Annex "lower" Success Towneship. Meaning that her Northern boundary should extend due East until the Maine border. This would not include Success Lake. Taxs and Payments in Lieu of Taxs would be collecting by the city of Berlin.

We believe that Berlin should be the county seat of Androscoggin County. I believe that county should be made up of the Townes of Shelburne, Gorham, Randolph, Berlin, Milan, Dummer, Millsfield & Errol 9perhaps others). We believe, we should consider memebers of that entire new county should not be able to vote for councilors but would be able to vote for the Mayor of Berlin. Berlin is the population centre and deserves to be recognised as that Centre to be an effective part of her own reconstruction & that effective Regional economic engine.

We believe the creation of the National Parkway & Tunnel creation is crucial to overwhelmingly ensuring a unique prosperous future for the Regional communities of Maine and New Hampshire. We do not believe it would be appropriate for heavy trucking along the Parkway corridor. We envision the corridor as a recreation Corridor. With Trail heads for the Lake, Hiking corridors, Equestrian Corridors and ATV corridors & Forest and Water concerns, Etc (there is enough room for everyone in Success).

We believe Passenger Rail via Portland and Montreal, Via Berlin should be part of our master plan.

We believe Berlin should build up. We believ many parts of the former mill site should be cleaned and great green spaces should be created. We also believe many acres of this land should be developed inot grand commercial and residential spaces. Perhaps even heated and powered by the old machine. Grande new public spaces and new signature building are the appropriate use of this acreage.

We believe a great American City should be built in Berlin NH.

Geocaching sounds like a really fun past time. I would go with some friends or family and make a day of it. It basically sounds like a great big treasure hunt. I think that it is a great way to learn about the area--especially its geography and maybe even its history. I think that it would also be a really good idea for families that homeschool as well or as a class trip for younger students to learn about the area and have some fun at the same time. Happy Hunting!

I think I've found something new to do with the "Brady Bunch" this summer! Father Brady has a brand new GPS and an idea that it was used for nothing more than locating home without asking for directions. I'd never heard of this before... and I can't believe how many geocaches are hidden right here in the area! I'll be sure to post my FTF(s) and hopefully no DNF(s)! Thanks for the tips!
