Okay so maybe we're a few years away from that.. but we're getting closer. NHPR now has a transmitter in Colebrook, so tune into 105.9 and check it out. It's amazing that just about ten years ago, I was sitting around a table with the board of NHPR talking about what mountains (literally) we would have to climb in order to truly provide news and information to the entire Granite State.

Treats, not tricks in downtown Berlin

The "haunting hour" is quickly approaching which means it's time for area businesses to prepare for "Trick or Treat Downtown".  This year's Main St. event will take place on Wednesday, October 31st from 3pm to 5pm.  Participating merchants will place a bright, orange pumpkin poster in their store window to signify their willingness to receive little ghouls and goblins.  So grab your broomstick and cauldron or that skeleton in your closet and head to downtown Berlin for this annual, fun-filled event.  For more information, please contact the Berlin Main St. Program at 752-6246

Get involved! Prove that democracy is alive and well. Get informed and exercise your civic duties by attending  the Mayoral candidates debate Thursday, Nov. 1, at 7.p.m. The debate will be held at Berlin city hall.

Brain power not powerlines

If you haven't been following the conversation over on www.citizensforanewvision.com you'll should. You'll come away with more hope and excitement for the future of Berlin than ever before. More and more people are seeing the potential of the Burgess Mill site. I'd take it one step further and say that the real potential is the mash up between the site itself and the people who live in the area. Ever since we moved KDPaine & Partners to Berlin, I've been impressed with the caliber of the work force. So when I saw an ad for Arlington, VA that said "Brain Power is our new Alternative Energy"  -- it struck a chord. Brain Power already is the new energy source in Berlin. We just need to harness it and work towards a common goal of a bright, clean beautiful future.

Save the Date! Wine Tasting Event Coming In November

 

 

Berlin – On November 1st, from 5:30-7:30pm, the Berlin Main Street Program in collaboration with the Town and Country Motor Inn will be holding their annual “Toast to the Valley”, wine tasting event. Everyone is invited to enjoy and learn about different flavors of wine while listening to music and taking a chance at our silent auction.

’s premier wine vendors will be showcased at the event, which will feature over 150 different wines from vineyards all over the world. This year the Berlin Main Street Program will celebrate their 10 years; view slide shows of their accomplishments while sipping new wine and listening to the live music.

 

The fundraiser will once again be an interactive event, where people with limited knowledge of wine can learn about different types through sampling. This event, however, is not just for those who wish to learn about wines. True connoisseurs will enjoy trying the newest types of wine available, including champagnes, sparkling wines, dessert wines, and port. Delectable hors d’oeuvres sponsored by Woodlands Credit Union will be catered by the Town & Country Motor Inn fine chefs.

 

“I always look forward to the wine tasting event. It will be a wonderful opportunity for people to experience a sophisticated night on the town. I am also excited to have Claude Pigeon again as our entertainment this year, his blend of music will fit the evening perfectly” said Executive Director Stacia Roberge.

 

Advance tickets will be on sale Wednesday at select locations; Town & Country Motor Inn; Woodlands Credit Union; Greetings Jewelers; Northland Dairy Bar; Berlin Main Street Program; and Lorraine Leclerc has tickets. The cost of admission is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. All proceeds is a donation to the Berlin Main Street Program and all wine at the event is donated.  For more information, please call 752-6246.
