Outdoor Life Magazine names Berlin one of the best
OutdoorLife in an article called Paradise Found, has named Berlin, NH one of the top 200 places for sportsman in America. While we worry about our favorite fishing holes getting overrun, we really can't complain too much. Especially when you see the competition.
What is tragically queer is all of the resources mentioned, where locals hunt and fish, are privately owned by investors that could care less about the virtues of nature and will soon be Snuggleberry estates, prefab living and the Appalachian, Republican, Antigreen, Backwoods Rallying commitee will make sure that that happens just so they don't seem like tree huggers. At times we act like we are a pathetic uneducated race that knows nothing of our own place in the universe, we believe we are all individuals. "The cimate is not changing"

Sean
On the down side of that, those hunting grounds, for the very first time are owned by investors and not timber managers and those posted signs will come if the community does not be proactive and designate those areas that should remain as they are. Plum creek, except for a sliver of land along the highway, owns the thirteen mile woods (a huge developement company), T.R. Dillon clear cutters and developement company owns Success.....

As an avid hunter I am pleased to see the recognition for Berlin. There really are great hunting opportunities just outside our back door. And the nice thing about this part of the State is the noticeable absence of "Posted, No Hunting" signs. Let's hope that never changes!

Also interesting to note that Berlin is the only New Hampshire entry in this list of 200 and joins only a handful of New England towns to be part of this list.
