So after 2 years of looking and wishing and wanting, I'm about to move into a real house here in Berlin. It's one I've been running by every morning for at least a year, and has fabulous views of the mountains and to me is symbolic of all what Berlin is all about.
She's a beautiful grande dame of a house --- 3 bedrooms with lofts and views and a living room that just begs you to curl up in front of the fire with a very fat book. Like any grande dame these days she could use a bit of a face lift. The floors, a coat of paint, and some TLC and she'll be ready for the ball, If this were Victorian England the next stop would be the dress makers. But this is Berlin and what she really needs is some furniture. So in the interest of recycling, I'd like to encourage anyone moving, or doing some early spring cleaning to give us your leftovers. And, since I'm using it during the week, she'll be available for ski weekends, and we're willing to trade rent for furniture. We specifically need:
Beds
Dressers
Comfy chairs
Bookshelves
Armoirs
A sofa
And then of course she needs a name: So far we have
St. Elsewhere
The Cozy Sheraton
Snugglers Notch
The Measurement Motel
Again, suggestions are welcome!
And more photos are here:
Welcome to Berlin.

The big difference between 06 and now is that it doesn't smell anymore -- the air and water are clean and beautiful, but the prices of houses are still reasonable.
And actually the name I"m leaning towards is "Snugglers Notch" -- since it's such a snug little house.

That's a beautiful house! When I was living up there in 04, 05 and part of 06, no one wanted to live in Berlin because of the misconceptions surrounding it and its economic depression, but there are some beautiful areas there! And I love the name Smuggler's Notch!
