The wonderful thing about working in the north country is that you work where you play. On any given day, I can turn off my computer and drive to Jericho Lake State Park, about 15 minutes from my house in downtown Berlin. and be swimming about 20 minutes after I leave my desk.I'm told by those who fish, that the record for catching a fish after leaving your desk is 15 minutes.
Responding to Linda Witmer's post on 6/24/2011: I am the Granddaughter of Eli J. King. I have a lot of the information you want, icuindlng many photos. I was born in Berlin, NH on 3/30/45, the Daughter of Leo E. King and Laura Ida May Marois King. My father was the sixth and last child born to Eli and Margaret on 4/16/1906. Margaret died on 4/28/1906. As you probably know, Delida was born on 4/22/1904. We have a lot to talk about. Please go to my website to get my e-mail address or obtain my phone number from Odette at the Berlin and Cof6s County Historical Society (thank you so much, Odette). Can't wait to talk!

I could never fully express my aieapcirtpon to those outstanding volunteers of the Moffett House. This isn't just a house with loads of books and documents etc . It's documentation of the heart and soul of what made Berlin such a wonderful place to live. It provides the rich history of how Berlin came to be. Having served in the military, marrying a military man and living in so many beautiful places, none ever compared to home. I lived in Germany a total of 7 years, saw beautiful mountains, forests, lakes and rivers but none could compare to those beautiful White Mountains of NH, White Lake, Moose Brook, even the Androscoggin River. My daughter's high school graduation was conducted at the Worms Cathedral in Worms, Germany. I was in awe of this place knowing I was in the church where Martin Luther denounced his Catholic church and government, and created his own church, but even this Cathedral paled in comparison to my beloved St. Anne's Church. I still get goose bumps when I walk in there to attend Mass, or just light a candle. How interesting that the one place I worked so hard to get away from, is the one place I miss so much. Thank you so much to all of you for what you do, many thanks to Poof Tardiff for his wonderful historical writings. I love reading his books please keep them coming, and to the wonderful person responsible for this website, YOU ARE AWESOME! See you next time I come home !

Kindness to US Military Veterans
People praise me for the volunteer helping others that I do every day. People tell me how much they respect US Military Veterans and that they want to help any veteran in any way that they can. No one sees the reality that the mind of some (Not all) combat veterans: what we did comes back every day. We learn to live with it or it engulfs our lives. No one understands we have no control over our own minds as if we want to live like this. You see us living just like the average person never to witness the other side and if you do civilized society classifies it as the cruel criminal side. The mental person is what this civilized society calls me. The local police refer to me as a danger to the community. Suicide is the solutions for you thank we with parades when to days veteran comes home but soon forget the effects that have not engulfed our minds yet. 25% of the homeless in the USA is US Military Veterans ignored or rejected by the very civilized society we did it for. Only 10% of the US Population ever joins the US Military. You praise us (just like the newspapers will do to this letter) THEN you censor our words for the danger you believe we are.
The newspapers refuse to tell their reader that I want to build a Veteran resort-chapel in Lee NH. A place where homeless veterans can live free of charge until they mentally and physically come home: if ever. I want campsites where US Military Veterans and their families can vacation to try to adjust to life back here. The news goes so far as to hide or keep from the public that this 100% disabled US Marine is running for NH State senator District 21. This civilized society praises and thanks us with one hand while stabbing us in the back with the other. The newspapers refuse to through Opinion Letters of government wrongs inform the public that the VA and NH government have conspired to stop my VA medical for combat related disabilities until I stop writing opinion letters just like this one.
They tell the public of the danger that I am but stop medical care that should help me live in a civilized society. The news media believe to censor these facts are doing a public service for my suicide would save on the budget. It is all proper gander that our government is using to harm my character in the public eye. I volunteer to help people every day. I refuse to own or allow a weapon in my home at any time. The danger exists when the editors and government officials can use the trusted power of the people to harm individuals they do not like.
The NH Supreme Court refused to hear a case presented to them of Judge Peter Fauver criminally violating the Constitution to intentionally harm US citizens. I volunteer my time to help this Madbury NH family and this is what the USA allows NH and the VA to do to a 100% disabled US Marine. The NH SC refused to talk.
I believe the USA is worth it: so much if I have a flashback today I pray never to see tomorrow for coming back alive was just plan wrong. You listen but never hear we are not that same child with a promising future that left.
I am a candidate for NH State Senate District 21 the voters have a right to make an informed choice. I hide no facts of my life so why should the editors be allowed to censor the facts from the voters. Opinion letters are the people’s right.

News Group acquisitions top $1 million
Ben Flanagan | August 6, 2012
The Dubai-based News Group International (NGI) has spent more than $1 million acquiring two international media-analysis firms.
NGI, which itself specialises in monitoring news and social media, said it has acquired the London-headquartered Report International and the US-based KDPaine & Partners.
Mazen Nahawi, the president of NGI, told The National that each investment was valued at more than $500,000, and would receive additional funds in the future.
“Each deal in the acquisition is worth between $500,000 and $1 million and will receive additional funds for investment and growth,” said Mr Nahawi.
Report International and KDPaine “provide customers with insight based on traditional and social media content analysis, as well as surveys and field research,” Mr Nahawi said.
Both firms will become part of NGI’s measurement company Salience Insight, but continue to operate under their own existing brand names, the Dubai firm said.
Mr Nahawi said NGI plans to make use of the two companies’ resources in the Middle East region.
“We plan on extending the talent, technology and reach of these companies to our region where I believe they will help dramatically raise the level of measurement services in the markets where we operate,” he said.
Mr Nahawi said that NGI was “continuing to evaluate” other potential acquisition targets

What Thinkest Thou, Katie?

Would You also be in Favor of adding a Portland to Montreal Rail Link, with a Stop in Berlin, as Well?
Also a Hotel on the former Rite Aid Block?
Methinks that these are Great Idea's ... Really! Of course, not to the Detriment of other opportunities for other Residents.
